Hatred Brings Tumultuous Times

Those who fan the flames of hatred remain untouched by the venom they spew, sheltered by their wealth and power. They pass down their rancid legacy to the rest of us, burdening us with their corrosive influence. But here’s the truth: we don’t have to accept their toxic gift! We have the power to live with true integrity, guided by the profound plan Jesus laid out for us. Each of us is endowed with the gift of Christian discernment—a divine ability to view our lives and the world through the lens of God’s Word and apply that sacred wisdom to our everyday choices.

But then again, it is easier to hate than to love, blame others, or take responsibility for our actions. Getting instant news and information from influencers, actors/actresses, famous sports figures, or media icons is more accessible. What is happening in America is a culmination of our own irresponsibility, religious seatwarmers, and lukewarm Christians. We don’t want to step on the toes of organizations and people whose philosophy differs from ours. Can you hear the tree fall in the forest? Silence is not golden or good at this time in Christianity!

We have removed God from our Judeo-Christian country. Yes, that was one of America’s founding principles, and our younger generations have no clue. Why? Because they were not taught history, real history. Our founding principles are lost and will become myths and folklore if we do not correct them. What is happening in the Middle East is not “now” news; it goes back to the Ottoman Empire. You will be shocked if you begin to read up on history and how in tune it is with our Bible.

 And in our Bible, God tells Abraham in Genesis 12:3

I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and pin you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

I am deeply convinced that God is withdrawing His hand of favor from America, and in the coming months, we will be engulfed by rising tides of hatred, agitators, and troublemakers. The truth is that those who stir the pot are exploiting us for their gain—fueling their power and amassing wealth at our expense. Reflect on this: Are you relying on God’s divine discernment to guide your decisions, or are you being swayed by manipulative voices seeking to serve their interests? The choice is clear, and the stakes are high.

During our time back home, finding a nearby church has been challenging, which is crucial for me and my ever-present health issues. While watching local churches on YouTube on Sundays, we stumbled upon a church that immediately resonated with us. My husband and I were impressed by the church and its pastors, so we started tuning in on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. After four months, we’ve grown very fond of it. However, it turns out the church is located seven hours away in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Now we’re considering whether a move might be necessary. I’m sharing this because I believe being physically present in a church community is especially adamant during these tumultuous times.

My family and I will continue to look for a local church while watching World Outreach Church on YouTube. We will pray, treat others with respect, and openly demonstrate our values and love for Jesus for all to see.

We can turn America around back to the Judeo-Christian values the Pilgrims, and our founding fathers came to imbed into this land.

God Bless You!

Finding A Ministry

Hello Fellow Travelers,

Hello Fellow Travelers,

Last week, I promised to share how I found a new way to connect with our community. At sixty-two, I knew it was time for a fresh chapter in my service journey. My husband and I had a rich history of volunteering—leading youth groups, feeding the homeless, and taking on various roles at our church. However, the pandemic and my health challenges left me feeling uncertain about how I could continue to give back.

Then, a dear friend pointed out something I hadn’t fully recognized: my ministry was already in motion through the bracelets I make and give away!

It’s hard to pinpoint exactly when I began this journey. It started fifteen years ago when I was crafting jewelry for gifts and sales. The cross bracelets were never intended to be sold; I can’t quite explain why. It was just something I felt deeply compelled to do.

The true joy comes from witnessing the light in someone’s eyes when they receive one of these bracelets. After the pandemic hit, I felt a stronger urge to reach out. Many people were struggling with despair and mistrust, feeling utterly overwhelmed by their circumstances. I wanted to offer them more than just a piece of jewelry; I wanted to offer a bit of hope, a reminder that they are loved and not alone.

I have been there, facing hunger, financial strain, and health uncertainties. It can be challenging to see a way forward when you’re caught in a storm. That’s why I also decided to extend my outreach to men, creating keychains for them. The response has been heartwarming, and it’s a small but meaningful way to show that kindness still matters.

In these times of economic and social distress, we all need kindness most. It’s a simple yet profound gift we can all give, and it has the power to uplift and unite us.

So, if you’re feeling lost or unsure how to contribute, remember that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a big difference. Reach out, offer a smile, or share a simple gesture of goodwill. Together, we can create a ripple of compassion that touches lives and brings hope where it is needed most.

Warmly, Joni

God Bless You!

9/11 Past Become Our Future

Hello Fellow Travelers,

Today marks the anniversary of a day that forever altered our lives—September 11, 2001. I vividly recall sipping my morning coffee, kids safely at school, and watching Good Morning America when the unthinkable happened: terrorists attacked the Twin Towers. The shock of that moment was palpable when my dear friend called, urging me to turn on the TV. The reality of it all sunk in as I reached out to my mom; we both feared that America was on the brink of World War III. That afternoon, I found solace in prayer at church, a ritual that helped me navigate the harrowing days, weeks, and years that followed.

Winston Churchill’s words resonate deeply: “Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.”

This stark reminder feels incredibly relevant today as we witness a disturbing trend in America. Our college campuses and younger generations seem lost in a haze of idealism that veers dangerously toward communism and socialism. Meanwhile, our government continues to send 50 million dollars a week to Iran—the very nation that harbors intentions to undermine our country. Our actions against Israel contradict the biblical promise that those who oppose Israel will face divine retribution. It seems to me that we are witnessing the gradual withdrawal of God’s favor from America a consequence of these misguided choices.

Our society has also systematically removed God from our schools, governments, and homes. So, when we cry out for help and receive no response, let’s not be surprised. The echoes of our past actions are catching up to us, and the path forward requires deep reflection and a change in course—along with a lot of Prayer!

Today, when you remember the past, plan for the future. Start by asking your representatives about the money we send out of this country. Become active in your communities, churches, and schools. We desperately need change.

God Bless You!

Apalachee High School Shooting

Hello Fellow Traveler,

Yesterday, my heart shattered into pieces, and my eyes overflowed with tears of sorrow.  I could only cry, “God, forgive us for how careless we have raised our children. We purposely removed You from our schools, workplaces, homes, social gatherings, and government—even our places of worship. We have allowed the demons of this world to grab our children and infiltrate their lives.

The movies they watch, the music they hear, the heroes they worship, the closed-door churches they attend, and their communities are full of hatred and prejudice! Yes, Father, we have brought this upon ourselves and can’t understand why. Please forgive us for our love of self and culture. We are more of this world than Yours. Open our eyes to the truth and help us to find a way back!” In Jesus Name, Amen.

So, if you are wondering what my prayer is about, it concerns the shooting at the Georgia Apalachee High School yesterday—the shooter, a 14-year-old kid, and four dead – 2 students and two teachers. And the words of the politicians and our government officials went round and round,  all over town. “Gun control legislation is what we need, and a child should never have to go to school and be made to do shooter drills.” Oh yes, my ears rang with the same old, same old—no solution in sight. Until we admit we are the problem and find a way to heal our hearts and our land with God, it will only get worse.

The solution is complex and multifaceted; the church and Christians must stand up with God in the middle! You can not be seat warmers in your place of worship; you must go out and change the world. And you can’t sit at home and vocalize what needs to be done. Poof, it is gone within the air; the results are nothing. Think about how you can stand up to make a difference in our country, and then do it!

Next week, I will tell you how I found a way to get out into our community and bring joy and light. My prayers are with the two student’s families, the two teacher’s families, and the shooter’s family.  I will lift the community of Apalachee High School and our country to God in my daily prayers. You should, too.

A Bible verse came to me while writing the post. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 The Message/Remix

“Be cheerful no matter what; pray all of the time; thank God No Matter What Happens. This is the way God wants you, who belong to Christ Jesus to live.”

Heavenly Father,

I come before you with thankfulness in this time of sorrow. I am grateful for all you do for us, even when we turn our backs on you.

Please heal my broken heart for your blessed children. I love them so much, Father, and see hopeful promises within each of them. And then their light of promise is taken away. Please help the families who lost their loved ones yesterday feel Your presence and understand the “why.” Bless them with your mercy, grace, love, and joy. Walk with them through this devastating road they must travel. Thank you, Jesus, for everything! In Jesus Name Amen.

God Bless You!

PSALM 139

Hello, fellow travelers. I pray this day finds you full of joy and hope. I would like to share with you the amazing, wonderful, heart-tickling bible verse that was shown to me. Let me give you a little background. When I get up each morning, I use the YouVersion Bible app, which is free! It has daily verses, study plans, and people sharing their stories. I love it!! The best part for me is listening to the bible being read by an amazing orator, not AI, but a person, probably an actress.  The emphasis on words and sections brings the Bible to life: swords clanging, Goliath hitting the ground in a plume of dust, and Jesus talking to me! No flat words on a page being mulled over in my mind. Yep! The best way to start my day!

Now, back to this morning. The verse was King David’s Psalm 139, titled God’s Perfect Knowledge of Man. As she read each word, it wrapped around my heart and settled deeply within my soul. As only David can explain, I was moved to listen repeatedly and savor the moment in the Lord’s presence. There are several verses we contemporary Christians take out and use for our benefit occasionally.  But this Psalm needs to be prayed in its entirety. Take it out every morning and either have the YouVersion app read it to you or read it aloud to yourself.  Ask God to give you David’s feelings when he wrote it as you read.

My takeaway from Psalm 139 is:

God knows me and is with me and loves me even when I am in the depths of hell. I pray you feel the same power and love when you read it!

God Bless You!

Psalm 139

You have searched me, Lord,
    and you know me.

You know when I sit and when I rise;
    you perceive my thoughts from afar.

You discern my going out and my lying down;
    you are familiar with all my ways.

Before a word is on my tongue
    you, Lord, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before,
    and you lay your hand upon me.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
    too lofty for me to attain.

Where can I go from your Spirit?
    Where can I flee from your presence?

If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
    if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
    if I settle on the far side of the sea,

even there your hand will guide me,
    your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
    and the light become night around me,”
even the darkness will not be dark to you;
    the night will shine like the day,
    for darkness is as light to you.

For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.

My frame was not hidden from you
    when I was made in the secret place,
    when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
    all the days ordained for me were written in your book
    before one of them came to be

How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God!
    How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them,
    they would outnumber the grains of sand—
    when I awake, I am still with you.

If only you, God, would slay the wicked!
    Away from me, you who are bloodthirsty!

They speak of you with evil intent;
    your adversaries misuse your name.

Do I not hate those who hate you, Lord,
    and abhor those who are in rebellion against you?

I have nothing but hatred for them;
    I count them my enemies.

Search me, God, and know my heart;
    test me and know my anxious thoughts.

See if there is any offensive way in me,
    and lead me in the way everlasting.

Hello Fellow Travelers

Hello Fellow Travelers!

Isn’t that what we are on this earth? We are only here for a moment in time, and then hopefully, we will be with Jesus for eternity. So how is it going for you? Are you in a season of abundance or in a period of drought? Life, much like the seasons, has its cycles. Sometimes we find ourselves in a season of plenty, where blessings abound and everything seems to fall into place effortlessly. Other times, we may endure dry spells, facing challenges and uncertainties that test our faith and resilience.

In these moments, it’s essential to remember that every season has its purpose. Just as the earth needs both rain and sunshine to flourish, our souls require both joy and trials to grow. During times of abundance, we should embrace gratitude, sharing our blessings and spreading kindness. These are the moments to strengthen our roots, deepening our connection with God and those around us.

Conversely, in times of drought, we are called to rely on our faith more than ever. These are the moments that refine us, teaching us patience, perseverance, and trust in God’s plan. It’s in these challenging seasons that we often experience the most profound spiritual growth, finding solace in prayer and community.

As travelers on this earthly journey, we are never alone. We walk alongside fellow sojourners, each with their unique stories and experiences. By sharing our journeys, we uplift and inspire one another, creating a tapestry of hope and faith. Let’s cherish each season, knowing that both abundance and drought are integral to our spiritual journey.

So, dear friends, whether you find yourself in a season of plenty or facing trials, remember that you are part of a greater journey. Keep your eyes on the eternal horizon, and take heart in the knowledge that every step, no matter how challenging, brings you closer to the everlasting embrace of Jesus.

Blessings to you all, and may your journey be filled with faith, hope, and love.

Beryl Barreling Across the Country

Why choose to live where storms practically beckon their arrival, wreaking havoc on land, homes, and lives? The people. That’s why. When Hurricane Harvey slammed our area, communities rallied. People like Mattress Mack and JJ Watt stepped up, providing water, shelter, and support before official help arrived. First Responders were superheroes, on duty non-stop.

Our small church was right there, too, being the hands and feet of God. It’s the same spirit you’ll see with Hurricane Beryl. Houston isn’t just big—it’s a giant family.

The Bible gets it right about community. We don’t just survive with government directives; we thrive with neighbors, friends, pastors, and churches who embody Jesus’s love. Galatians 6:2 nails it: “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ.”

What is the law of Christ?

Jesus told them in Matthew 22:37-40 when asked about God’s law: Love God wholeheartedly, and love your neighbor as yourself. That’s it. That’s the ultimate truth—a fist-bump moment! Imagine being there when Jesus dropped that mic.

And that is what we need as a country to become one big family! Put the politics aside in the months to come and give it to Jesus to resolve. I heard a Pastor in Charlotte give an amazing imagery concerning politics and the anxiety it can bring you. Below is my representation.

Don’t forget to see how your church or family can help those affected by Beryl.

God Bless You!

Summer Day’s Prayer Reflections

Hello Friends! I hope today finds you well and cool! It is pretty hot here, not even our cats want to stay outside. It is funny how every summer seems hotter than the last and our blue skies seem dimmer. As the days stretch longer and the sun’s rays grow more intense, it’s a poignant reminder of the shifting climate around us. It’s important to stay hydrated and take care of ourselves and our furry friends during these sweltering days. On days like these, I’m reminded of the beauty of early morning or late evening walks, when the world seems to take a breath and the temperatures are a bit more forgiving. Let’s cherish those moments of respite and take the time to appreciate the simple joys—like a cool breeze or the shade of a leafy tree—that make summer special. And remember the who created all of this for you and me.

These days I think more and more about Jesus and His time here on earth. Jesus made sure to go to peaceful, quiet places to pray, making time for communion with the Father a top priority. If Jesus had a “to-do” list, I imagine the number one item would be to pray. In those moments of prayer, everything else falls into place; our souls find rest and connection with God. It’s similar to linking our phones to other devices—just as those devices can see everything we’ve been doing, talking, texting, and emailing, so does God see into our hearts and lives when we come before Him in prayer. It’s a reminder of the importance of being open and transparent, allowing our innermost thoughts and concerns to be laid bare before the One who understands us completely. Through this connection, we find peace and a renewed sense of purpose in the midst of life’s busyness.

I love being outside when I pray. I sit on our deck, which my husband kindly covered with a canopy and equipped with a fan so I can stay cool even on the warmest days. In the corner, there’s an old camping chair that our runt cat, Grayson, has claimed as her own. Despite being a year and a half old, she’s still the size of a kitten, making her presence all the more endearing. Our outdoor space is furnished with a cozy couch and tables we found at Goodwill, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere. I bring my Bible, phone, and ear pods because having praise music is essential for my time of reflection and connection. Sometimes, words flow effortlessly from my soul, pouring out in heartfelt prayer. Other times, it’s all about the silence and stillness, waiting on the Lord to speak into my soul. This sacred time outside, surrounded by nature and the gentle presence of Grayson, becomes a beautiful sanctuary where I can draw closer to God.

Have you prayed lately? I know God wants to commune with you and hold His special child within His arms. And if you are on vacation, remember to take some time for God and sanctuary. Bring your family into this moment so they can learn about the stillness and love of God.

God Bless You!

I am trying to get into the rhythm of writing again. If I can stay healthy and stay on the path God has placed me, maybe I can do it; with Him! Prayers and Love.
