Memories
Hello Everyone!
I hope you’re all soaking up the warmth and joy of summer, filled with treasured memories of family vacations and special moments. As we reminisce about these times, let’s not forget those unforgettable 4th of July barbecues, even thinking of loved ones who are no longer with us. One memory that stands out is from 1974, when America celebrated its bicentennial. My parents hosted a big family gathering at our house, bringing relatives from both sides. I still vividly remember my dad dropping a hotdog on the ground while grilling. He handed it to me without missing a beat, saying, “Just rinse it off with the hose!” I was twelve then and obediently washed it off, thinking it looked fine after a good rinse. When the memory crosses my min it brings a smile to my face.
Summer memories have a special kind of magic, second only to the enchantment of Christmas. This season’s warmth, joy, and laughter feel like a loving embrace, a gentle reminder from the Holy Spirit of how cherished we are. What about you? What memories bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart? Do you ever pause from your busy life, inviting God to join you, listen, and share in these precious moments?
Remember, you are deeply cherished. God desires the very best for you, His precious child. If you ever feel lost or your life seems hopeless, know there is always a path back. You are never too damaged, far gone, or have done unspeakable things for God’s grace and mercy. God forgives it all! You are worthy of forgiveness. Fourth of July can be your Independence Day from shame, hopelessness, and regret. Find a church or a person who can help you find your way to Jesus and support you along the way. Freedom is a wonderful thing!
God Bless You
Navigating the Unseen Spaces of the Heart
Hello, dear readers! It’s been quite a rollercoaster for me these past two weeks, as my heart seems to be on a quest of its own. There’s this peculiar sensation of missing someone, but the catch is, I can’t quite put my finger on who that someone is. Strange, isn’t it? I’ve tried to unravel this mysterious feeling through prayer, and while God has brought a particular person to mind, the emptiness persists. It’s a curious dilemma, as there are numerous individuals who could potentially fill this void in my heart.
Leaving Texas marked a significant chapter in my life, bidding farewell to friends who were more like family. The pastor and church that guided us through thick and thin, becoming an integral part of our journey. Then, there’s the memory of my best friend, Suzanne, who departed from this world some years ago. Her absence has left an irreplaceable void, and I find myself yearning for her companionship more than ever. It’s a feeling that cuts deep, leaving me pondering the intricacies of the heart.
Now, you might be wondering, what on earth is going on? And no, it’s not indigestion – let’s keep it light-hearted! But seriously, have you ever experienced a sensation like this? The feeling of a missing piece in your heart, despite your best efforts to identify and remedy it? It’s a perplexing journey, one that many of us traverse at some point in our lives.
Leaving behind the familiar faces and comforting embrace of our Texas community has opened up a space that no new friendship or experience seems capable of filling entirely. It’s not about forgetting the past or discounting the value of new connections; rather, it’s a testament to the profound impact certain individuals have on our lives.
In the midst of this emotional labyrinth, I’ve come to realize that our hearts have a language of their own. They carry the imprints of people who have touched our lives in ways we may not fully comprehend. It’s a mosaic of emotions, a collage of memories, and sometimes, a longing for a connection that transcends the boundaries of time and space.
As I navigate these unseen spaces of the heart, I invite you to reflect on your own journey. Have you ever felt a similar tug, a yearning for someone or something that defies explanation? Perhaps it’s a sign that our hearts are more intricate than we give them credit for, weaving a tapestry of emotions that shape our identities.
In the grand tapestry of life, each person leaves a unique thread, contributing to the beautiful and sometimes complex patterns of our hearts. So, here’s to embracing the mysteries, acknowledging the voids, and finding solace in the shared human experience of navigating the uncharted territories of our hearts. After all, it’s in these moments of vulnerability that we often discover the profound beauty of connection and the resilience of the human spirit.
Nurturing Self and Others
Hello there! As we find ourselves in the swift currents of February, it’s a good moment to pause, take a breath, and genuinely ask ourselves, “How are you doing?” This month is often associated with expressions of love, and in the spirit of “Give Love to Get Love,” it serves as a timely reminder to not only extend kindness to others but also to conduct a thoughtful mental health check-up for ourselves.
February, with its Valentine’s Day celebrations, is traditionally dedicated to love, affection, and connection. While expressing love to our friends, family, and partners is undoubtedly important, let’s not forget the significance of self-love and self-care. In the midst of our busy lives, it’s easy to overlook our own well-being. This month encourages us to prioritize our mental health and emotional balance.
Taking a moment to reflect on your mental well-being doesn’t necessarily mean dwelling on challenges or stressors; it can also involve acknowledging your achievements, expressing gratitude, and embracing moments of joy. Cultivating self-awareness allows us to better understand our emotions and respond to them in healthy ways.
Consider incorporating simple yet effective practices into your routine, such as mindfulness meditation, journaling, or spending time in nature. These activities can contribute significantly to your mental health by promoting relaxation, reducing stress, and fostering a positive mindset.
In addition to focusing on self-care, February offers an opportunity to connect with others on a deeper level. Acts of kindness, whether big or small, can have a profound impact on our relationships and our own sense of well-being. Reach out to friends, family, or colleagues, not just to express love but also to genuinely inquire about their
well-being. Sometimes, a thoughtful conversation can be a powerful form of support.
Remember that mental health is a continuous journey, and checking in on yourself doesn’t have to be reserved for a specific month. However, the symbolism of February can serve as a gentle nudge to prioritize your emotional well-being and strengthen the connections that contribute to a fulfilling life.
As we navigate the rapid pace of the year, let’s make an intentional effort to give love, receive love, and nurture our mental health. May this month be a reminder that amidst the hustle and bustle, taking care of ourselves and each other is a meaningful and valuable pursuit.
God Bless You!

TikTok Live Creators & Cat Fights
I’ve been closely observing TikTok creators as I delve into the art of tumbling. An exciting topic surfaced during one of the live broadcasts – the ethics of replicating someone else’s design or idea. The ongoing debate echoed in my thoughts as I lay in bed last night. While I fully comprehend the importance of avoiding the use of copyrighted creations, words, and materials, particularly from major corporations like Disney and Hasbro, I make sure not to overstep that boundary. I believed these live broadcasts were for inspiring creativity in the art world.
In TikTok live broadcasts, when you passionately unravel the intricacies of your artistic process, you’re opening a window for the world to peer into your creative world. Consider the ubiquity of Starry Night imitations—each replication is a testament to the power of shared inspiration. I believe genuine inspiration stems from God, attributing all goodness to His higher power. It beckons us to saturate the world with positivity. Yet, when inspiration morphs into an unwavering quest for personal gain, steering individuals toward negativity and trolling, it takes on a more sinister guise, serving as the breeding ground for hostility.
These individuals or groups must consider copyrighting their ideas and designs, a responsible step that aligns with adulthood. If denied copyright, it signals openness for others to use. In such cases, one can choose to gracefully move on from live designs or, as mature individuals, embrace the sharing spirit within the creative community.
As I embark on my tumbling craft adventure, I draw inspiration from the talented creators on TikTok who are masters in their fields, and I belong to an exceptional group. Being part of this community that advocates for positivity, camaraderie, and friendship greatly enhances my learning journey. It is KristaHDD on TikTok if you want to check out the group and her tumbling. With time, I hope to gain the confidence to showcase my creations.

Psalm 13 Is Me!
How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved. But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. I will sing unto the Lord because he hath dealt bountifully with me.
2023 was very difficult for me physically and financially. Long Covid twice that affected my neurological system and my ability to walk and maneuver my way around. A severed artery almost cost me my life and this last stay… Well, they are trying to figure it out today. Our finances are tight because of the hospital stays, doctor visits, and lab tests. Even with good insurance, there are bills to pay and prescriptions to buy. And in this economy everything is expensive! I am working on what they call a side hustle if I can stay well enough to do it. So, yes I feel defeated, beat down, and ask “Where are you, Jesus?”
Psalm 13 is me. First I complain and then I praise.
This continual assault upon my body and our finances has made me look to the Lord more than once and ask “Why?” You would think after 40 years, I would give up and tell Jesus to go away. But I don’t. I always say there is a reason for my suffering or, at least I am not a quadriplegic. Why? Because I love Jesus! He is my all and all! He is where I lay my head when I feel I can’t go on another day. He is with whom I walk in the stillness of the garden and rock in the safety of His arms.
Psalm 13 is me. First I complain and then I praise.
I am going to take Psalm 13 and reverse it this year. First I will praise and if I am having a difficult time, Jesus and I can discuss it. And, even though 2023 was the worst year I have ever had in my life, I plan on taking a positive attitude moving into 2024! Hopefully, I can document it on my blog and see the difference in my life through the blog.
What about you? I pray you are finding renewal in 2024, good health, and great abundance! God Bless You!

Finding A New Improved Me
As I nestle into my seat, surrounded by a symphony of artisans – the delicate clinks of tumblers, the rhythmic strokes of painters, and the vibrant sparks of welders – I feel an insatiable craving to dive headfirst into their world. My spirit is ablaze with creativity, ready to absorb every iota of knowledge you offer. Show me the way, and soon I’ll wield it with finesse. Tunes envelop my senses, propelling me into a dance that unfetters my imagination. From this whirlwind of inspiration, sometimes words cascade onto the page, while other times, a vision demands to be born into reality.
In the gentle rhythm of each breath, my soul finds solace. The confines of my earthly vessel fade away, allowing me to drift into a realm of pure serenity. Here, the touch of the Divine and the embrace of celestial beings grace my being. A river of tranquility and boundless elation courses through me, a sanctuary that envelops every fiber of my existence. In this sacred space, I know without a doubt, I have found my true home.
To understand the group you must picture a haven where love flows freely, unburdened by judgment or condemnation. Here, the community thrives, pulsating with the very essence of life itself. Imagine discovering this sanctuary nestled amidst a tapestry of skilled artisans and creators. Perhaps it’s a lingering echo of the vibrant sixties, but the resonance is undeniable. Witnessing humanity unite in a collective endeavor for the greater good, I’m reminded of Jesus, and His profound directive: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” This community, though far from flawless, is a testament to our shared humanity, complete with its battles and triumphs.
Over the past 40 years, my health struggles have cast a shadow over my life, threatening to pull me into the depths of disease and depression. At the age of 22, I underwent my first nose structure replacement, though a correct diagnosis eluded me. By the time I reached 40, a tumor had taken root near my left eye, leading to the identification of Wegener’s Granulomatosis, an autoimmune condition known for its aggressive nature. Autoimmune diseases often converge on the body like a relentless football team executing a tackle. Now, at 61, I find myself with my third nose structure, crafted from yet another rib bone, along with its accompanying cartilage. It appears that my respiratory and nasal systems are favored targets for this disease. I reckon I harbor nearly eight conditions, some of which I view as more manageable states. In February of this year, Long Covid became an unwelcome addition to my health challenges, resurfacing once more at the end of August. I am presently grappling with issues of balance and weakness. Hospital stays have become an all too regular occurrence in my life. However, now, as I rediscover the spark of my creative spirit yearning to rekindle, I am fighting my way back once again. The prospect of remission looms on the horizon. Gaining control over the other diseases is within reach. My journey is now focused on uncovering hope and embracing joy.
I will be writing about my journey, into the crafting world on TikTok and show you what I have learned. My husband and I did some sublimation cups, as a start, and put them on my Etsy site originallyameliastore.com. The crafters also know me as Amelia and since there is another Joanie, I will stay with Amelia. Amelia was to be my name Amelia when I was born, but my brother wanted me named after his first-grade girlfriend Joni. Either way, I will answer. I guess I can be Joni Amelia!
God Bless You!
Just One More Disease
When I received my initial diagnosis of Wegener’s disease, I used to make light-hearted quips about a morbid competition: who could boast the most ailments in the end? You see, autoimmune conditions tend to stack up on one another. Why face it alone? Now, at 61 years old, I can casually admit to having eight of them, and just last month, I acquired a viral eye infection to add to the collection, which will require another two months to fully clear. It likely stemmed from my second bout with Covid, which landed me in the hospital. It’s the physical fragility that weighs on me the most at times, especially knowing I must adjust my approach to social gatherings and even simple trips to the grocery store.
There exists a medication that could alleviate some of my Wegener’s-related symptoms, but the insurance company has deemed it unnecessary. The individual overseeing these decisions at the insurance company likely specializes in obstetrics and lacks expertise in autoimmune diseases. Were you aware of this small detail? The insurance giant, which rakes in billions of our hard-earned dollars, compensates a doctor to reject necessary treatments.
For four decades, I’ve grappled with my illnesses, contending with the strain of being unwell, the quest for solutions, and the constant fear of financial ruin, exacerbated by the questionable ethics (or rather, lack thereof) of the insurance company. How about you? Could your life be lightened of its burdens if sickness and insurance expenses weren’t a concern? How can we, as a community, come together to support each other in this endeavor?
Let me know!
God Bless You!
