Trump, Harris, or Jesus Christ?

Hello, Fellow Travelers!

Today marks a pivotal moment in American history—a true test of values, where good and evil, right and wrong stand in contrast, with no Sword of Solomon in sight to make the division clear. As we weigh our choices between candidates and their myriad issues, the real victor should be the one who embodies truth, integrity, and the love of Jesus in their heart. This leader must prioritize America and its people, upholding freedom and democracy rather than veering toward ideals that threaten these foundations.

I feel a calm reassurance, knowing God holds me and that His will prevails in every decision. I have prayed and cast my vote. Yet, I recognize that silence can be a missed opportunity. From today on, I intend to boldly proclaim the message of Jesus Christ, standing against what is wrong and inviting others to join the Kingdom of God. My faith will be evident—not just in words but in actions. Let this day resonate as a defining moment for all Americans. Let us vote, pray, and open our hearts to the path Jesus has set for each of us.

Acts 4:31

After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

Let’s do it and shake it up today!

God Bless You!

From God

Hello, Fellow Travelers!

How are you doing today? I pray you are well. This morning, I was sure what to write about on the blog. I thought it would be about Mary being an unwed mother. Then, during my prayer and worship time, God gave me something else. The message is relevant to what is occurring in America and worldwide. I am so tired of the election and the news of dissension and hatred. But God reminded me that He is in control. It will not matter who is elected, who bombs who, and what horrific actions are taken against the people. God has raised empires, and He has smitten them down. Well, let’s get to it. Can you tell me if this isn’t relative to today?

Psalm 2

Why do the nations conspire[a]
and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth rise up
    and the rulers band together
against the Lord and against his anointed, saying,
“Let us break their chains
    and throw off their shackles.”

The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
    the Lord scoffs at them.
He rebukes them in his anger
and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
“I have installed my king
    on Zion, my holy mountain.”

I will proclaim the Lord’s decree:

He said to me, “You are my son;
today I have become your father.
Ask me,
and I will make the nations your inheritance,
the ends of the earth your possession.
You will break them with a rod of iron[b];
you will dash them to pieces like pottery.”

10 Therefore, you kings, be wise;
be warned, you rulers of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear
and celebrate his rule with trembling.
12 Kiss his son, or he will be angry
and your way will lead to your destruction,
for his wrath can flare up in a moment.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

When I copied and pasted it, I left the breaks for emphasis. The last sentence says it all for you and me, “Blessed are all who take refuge in Him.” Take refuge and rest in him, and God will care for the world!

God Bles You!

Rebuilding Our Foundation: How We Can Help America Heal

Welcome, Fellow Travelers,

Have you noticed how deeply we Americans rely on our infrastructure? From the winding back roads to the highways and bridges, we depend on these structures to keep our country connected. However, as recent hurricanes have shown us here in Western North Carolina, a single storm can wash them away instantly, leaving devastation in its wake. It’s a sobering reminder of how fragile these man-made systems truly are.

Yet, while reflecting on this, I am deeply grateful that nothing—no storm or sin—can destroy our unshakable foundation in Jesus Christ. There were times in my past when I tried to tear down my relationship with Him, believing I was too far gone to deserve even a mustard seed of forgiveness, mercy, or grace. But in His boundless love, He reached down, pulled me from the muck and mire I had gotten myself into, and embraced my messy, broken self—inside and out.

When I look at the state of our country today, I sometimes wonder why God would want to do the same for us. Why would He want to pull us out of the murky, broken state we find ourselves in? It’s hard to imagine, especially when many Christians have gone silent or turned away from Him. And while there are many reasons for our spiritual disconnect, the most heartbreaking is the tragic loss of innocent lives through abortion. In 2023 alone, over a million children were lost, and who knows how many since 1973.

Jesus’ words in Matthew 18:6 resonate so powerfully here: “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.” Can you imagine the weight of the consequences that our nation carries for allowing such loss?

So what can we, as individuals, do to reverse the course of this devastation and seek healing for our nation? There are tangible steps we can take to make a difference:

  1. Pray – Ask God for guidance on how you can be part of the solution. Whether it’s through personal action, supporting others, or simply standing firm in your faith, prayer is where transformation begins.
  2. Support organizations that help pregnant mothers—Many nonprofits and ministries are dedicated to providing resources and support for expectant mothers, helping them choose life for their babies. Volunteering or donating even small items like a baby blanket or clothes can significantly impact.
  3. Give what you can – Whether it’s your time, talents, or financial resources, giving, even in small ways, can make a difference for someone in need.
  4. Join a community of believers – When we come together as a faith community, we tap into an abundance of ideas, resources, and strength. God has equipped us with unique gifts, and by joining forces, we can achieve more than we ever could.

In times of crisis, whether from natural disasters or spiritual battles, we are reminded of how fleeting the things of this world can be. But our hope in Christ is eternal; through Him, we can rebuild what has been lost and restore what has been broken.

Let’s commit to being part of that rebuilding process—not just for our country, but for each individual life we encounter. With compassion, prayer, and action, we can be healing instruments in a world that so desperately needs it.

God Bless You!

God’s Hand

Hello, Fellow Travelers!

How’s everyone doing today? I know the East Coast, especially Florida, has been going through some rough times lately. Nature seems to have its own way of resetting things. My dad used to say, “Nature always does its own house cleaning.” I’ve heard people call it global warming, while others see it as the hand of God. Since God is all-knowing—He sees the past, present, and future—I believe He understands everything happening now. But here’s the thing: He gave us free will, and with that comes the responsibility of how we treat this beautiful world He gifted us. So maybe it’s not just one thing. Perhaps it’s a mix of human choices, environmental shifts, and divine design. It’s hard not to worry about the destruction already taking place and how it might impact our economy, especially here in the South.

Whew! That’s a bit heavy, huh? But fear not! Let me shift gears and share a story of hope—a reminder that God’s hand is always guiding, even when we can’t see it immediately.

When the pandemic started, my family and I had just returned from Texas and moved into our camper for what turned into a few years of makeshift living. It was an adjustment, but we had bigger dreams on the horizon. I’d always felt drawn to the Western mountains of North Carolina—the fresh mountain air made me feel like I could finally breathe again, and the community there was so warm and welcoming. So, we made the decision to plant roots there and began hunting for our new home.

Let me tell you, everything that could go wrong did go wrong. It was almost like we had stepped into a storm that wouldn’t let up. First, we found a house we loved, but the deal fell through. The realtor—who also owned the house—got greedy and tried to pit us against another buyer. I remember looking at my husband and saying, “Enough. We don’t play those games.” So, we withdrew our offer.

Then, while house-hunting, we almost went over the edge of a mountain. I stood at the corner of that house, my heart pounding, and prayed, “God, please, we need Your help.” Moments later, as if out of nowhere, an old truck appeared, chains in hand. It was a neighbor from down the hill, a Christian man who just happened to be driving by when we needed help. It was nothing short of divine intervention. I know God sent him to us.

But the hits kept coming. Our car began having random issues, refusing to start without any clear explanation. After countless trips to the mechanic, they couldn’t figure out the cause. And then, the final straw—I had a heart attack. That’s when we knew it was time to head home. Looking back now, I genuinely believe I wouldn’t be here today if we hadn’t returned when we did. The blockage in my heart was 80% in the widowmaker artery. I needed immediate, specialized care, and being back home gave me access to that.

We had faced many challenges in the mountains, but in hindsight, I don’t think we would have survived the brutal storm, Hurricane Helene, if we had stayed. It wasn’t where we were meant to be, not then.

I’ve always believed that God has a purpose for each of us, and when the time is right, He will show us the path. Maybe now, after everything we’ve been through, it’s our time. Perhaps this is what He has been preparing us for all along.

Summer Day’s Prayer Reflections

Hello Friends! I hope today finds you well and cool! It is pretty hot here, not even our cats want to stay outside. It is funny how every summer seems hotter than the last and our blue skies seem dimmer. As the days stretch longer and the sun’s rays grow more intense, it’s a poignant reminder of the shifting climate around us. It’s important to stay hydrated and take care of ourselves and our furry friends during these sweltering days. On days like these, I’m reminded of the beauty of early morning or late evening walks, when the world seems to take a breath and the temperatures are a bit more forgiving. Let’s cherish those moments of respite and take the time to appreciate the simple joys—like a cool breeze or the shade of a leafy tree—that make summer special. And remember the who created all of this for you and me.

These days I think more and more about Jesus and His time here on earth. Jesus made sure to go to peaceful, quiet places to pray, making time for communion with the Father a top priority. If Jesus had a “to-do” list, I imagine the number one item would be to pray. In those moments of prayer, everything else falls into place; our souls find rest and connection with God. It’s similar to linking our phones to other devices—just as those devices can see everything we’ve been doing, talking, texting, and emailing, so does God see into our hearts and lives when we come before Him in prayer. It’s a reminder of the importance of being open and transparent, allowing our innermost thoughts and concerns to be laid bare before the One who understands us completely. Through this connection, we find peace and a renewed sense of purpose in the midst of life’s busyness.

I love being outside when I pray. I sit on our deck, which my husband kindly covered with a canopy and equipped with a fan so I can stay cool even on the warmest days. In the corner, there’s an old camping chair that our runt cat, Grayson, has claimed as her own. Despite being a year and a half old, she’s still the size of a kitten, making her presence all the more endearing. Our outdoor space is furnished with a cozy couch and tables we found at Goodwill, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere. I bring my Bible, phone, and ear pods because having praise music is essential for my time of reflection and connection. Sometimes, words flow effortlessly from my soul, pouring out in heartfelt prayer. Other times, it’s all about the silence and stillness, waiting on the Lord to speak into my soul. This sacred time outside, surrounded by nature and the gentle presence of Grayson, becomes a beautiful sanctuary where I can draw closer to God.

Have you prayed lately? I know God wants to commune with you and hold His special child within His arms. And if you are on vacation, remember to take some time for God and sanctuary. Bring your family into this moment so they can learn about the stillness and love of God.

God Bless You!

I am trying to get into the rhythm of writing again. If I can stay healthy and stay on the path God has placed me, maybe I can do it; with Him! Prayers and Love.

Memories

Hello Everyone!

I hope you’re all soaking up the warmth and joy of summer, filled with treasured memories of family vacations and special moments. As we reminisce about these times, let’s not forget those unforgettable 4th of July barbecues, even thinking of loved ones who are no longer with us. One memory that stands out is from 1974, when America celebrated its bicentennial. My parents hosted a big family gathering at our house, bringing relatives from both sides. I still vividly remember my dad dropping a hotdog on the ground while grilling. He handed it to me without missing a beat, saying, “Just rinse it off with the hose!” I was twelve then and obediently washed it off, thinking it looked fine after a good rinse. When the memory crosses my min it brings a smile to my face.

Summer memories have a special kind of magic, second only to the enchantment of Christmas. This season’s warmth, joy, and laughter feel like a loving embrace, a gentle reminder from the Holy Spirit of how cherished we are. What about you? What memories bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart? Do you ever pause from your busy life, inviting God to join you, listen, and share in these precious moments?

Remember, you are deeply cherished. God desires the very best for you, His precious child. If you ever feel lost or your life seems hopeless, know there is always a path back. You are never too damaged, far gone, or have done unspeakable things for God’s grace and mercy. God forgives it all! You are worthy of forgiveness. Fourth of July can be your Independence Day from shame, hopelessness, and regret. Find a church or a person who can help you find your way to Jesus and support you along the way. Freedom is a wonderful thing!

God Bless You

Nurturing Self and Others

Hello there! As we find ourselves in the swift currents of February, it’s a good moment to pause, take a breath, and genuinely ask ourselves, “How are you doing?” This month is often associated with expressions of love, and in the spirit of “Give Love to Get Love,” it serves as a timely reminder to not only extend kindness to others but also to conduct a thoughtful mental health check-up for ourselves.

February, with its Valentine’s Day celebrations, is traditionally dedicated to love, affection, and connection. While expressing love to our friends, family, and partners is undoubtedly important, let’s not forget the significance of self-love and self-care. In the midst of our busy lives, it’s easy to overlook our own well-being. This month encourages us to prioritize our mental health and emotional balance.

Taking a moment to reflect on your mental well-being doesn’t necessarily mean dwelling on challenges or stressors; it can also involve acknowledging your achievements, expressing gratitude, and embracing moments of joy. Cultivating self-awareness allows us to better understand our emotions and respond to them in healthy ways.

Consider incorporating simple yet effective practices into your routine, such as mindfulness meditation, journaling, or spending time in nature. These activities can contribute significantly to your mental health by promoting relaxation, reducing stress, and fostering a positive mindset.

In addition to focusing on self-care, February offers an opportunity to connect with others on a deeper level. Acts of kindness, whether big or small, can have a profound impact on our relationships and our own sense of well-being. Reach out to friends, family, or colleagues, not just to express love but also to genuinely inquire about their

well-being. Sometimes, a thoughtful conversation can be a powerful form of support.

Remember that mental health is a continuous journey, and checking in on yourself doesn’t have to be reserved for a specific month. However, the symbolism of February can serve as a gentle nudge to prioritize your emotional well-being and strengthen the connections that contribute to a fulfilling life.

As we navigate the rapid pace of the year, let’s make an intentional effort to give love, receive love, and nurture our mental health. May this month be a reminder that amidst the hustle and bustle, taking care of ourselves and each other is a meaningful and valuable pursuit.

God Bless You!

SPRING HAS SPRUNG1

spring

Spring brings about a feeling of excitement and anticipation for both adults and children.  It is the time of renewal and birth.  And nature has the “spring” factory tuned up to high gear velocity. So I thought I would give you some facts and ideas about Spring, which will make your family more aware of the changing of the season.

Spring, in the continental USA, starts down at the very bottom tips of Florida, Texas, and California.  Spring moves upward at the rate of 100 miles per week.  Sort of like filling a drinking glass up with water. And Spring stays on the move until it reaches the northern edges of Maine and Washington State.

Ask your children to tell you what they notice is happening within their community.  And tell them what you see too.

Are the days getting longer and the sun staying around more often?

Do you see some flowers starting to bloom?

What does the air smell like?

Are there bees around your home?

Do you have lightning bugs or fireflies?

Even the night-time sky is changing! You can go to http://planetarium.ipsd.org/Subpage.aspx?id=282 and print a copy of the night sky.  Then go outside at night with your family and lay on a blanket on the ground.  Try to point out what you see, with what matches your map.

You can also Google your state and spring.  Find out what occurs in your state when spring arrives.

And, don’t miss the opportunity to explain to your family how God has made everything good in Spring!

Song of Solomon 2:11-12

“For behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtle dove is heard in our land.”
