Day 3 of Birthday Wishes & Love Notes to Jesus
What Name Shall I Call You?
His Birth Announcement
no punctuation or grammar required do you know what i mean
While texting the other day, I realized it takes me longer to text than most people. And then I figured out my problem…I use punctuation and grammar!
Now, I know sometimes I overly use punctuation when writing. It is only because I want the reader to pause, and put the same emphasis on the words. So if I am texting and all my words run together, will the reader still understand the context of my message? Can you see where I am going?
Kids need to learn to utilize punctuation and grammar when doing any form of writing. Because if not, we will have a generation grow up with thoughts and writings all blobbed together. Even Charlie Brown’s teacher emphasized her blah, blah, blahs. And you understood.
I found a site which illustrates the importance of punctuation and grammar in our lives.
Some of the pictures are a little grown up, but you are an adult.
Another point to be made…
Can you imagine the younger generation’s translation of the bible? Let’s try Matthew 4:23-25…
Jesus went throughout galilee teaching in their synagogues preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness among the people news about him spread all over syria and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases those suffering sever pain the demon possessed those having seizures and the paralyzed and he healed them large crowds from galilee large crowds from galilee the decapolis jerusalem judea and the region across the jordan followed him
OK, that was hard to type, much less try to read. We become so hurried in this life, we believe leaving out a few “periods” or “commas” won’t make a difference. We even believe it will help us to be faster and more productive. REALLY?
I relate it to rush hour traffic and the person who blows past you to get ahead. Swerving in and out of the lanes, pushing on the gas, and then slamming on the brakes! Only to find themselves sitting right beside you at the red light.
Remember, your children imitate what they see you doing! You don’t have to give them a punctuation or grammar lesson with every text and/or message. Use it yourself in your texts and messages. And if you needed, show them their texts with the words running together and the meaning lost in translation.
Communication is our strongest ally with our children and others in life. The way we communicate is how we are perceived. Above all else…Communicate Love!

Holiday Season Decisions!
Christmas is just around the proverbial retail store corner, and they all want your business. Even I want your business for my other site One Retail Therapy. But before you rush out into the maddening crush of shoppers, stop…write down a budget…make a list of who you are shopping for…their interests and leave some for charity.
This will give you the opportunity to get online and research your gift list along with the best prices.
When it comes to Christmas shopping, we are so proud of our daughter and son-in-law for their holiday choices. (Our daughter probably made the decision for her own sanity, knowing the two sets of Grandparents.) At Christmas, each child receives three gifts from Santa. “Baby Jesus only got three gifts when He was born,” was her explanation to us. Of course, that did not limit us Grandparents. But when she goes and puts it in the context of Jesus…well she made this Noni think twice about my own holiday buying choices.
Something everyone should consider, I think.
Now, before we get all bound together in wrapping paper and ribbon, we should pause and remember the real reason for the season. Oh, I can tell you all about Jesus and His love, but I found an article called “Giving the Gift of Christmas,” by Joshua Becker. And I could not have written or said it any better. You need to check it out!
Since I believe in making informed holiday buying decisions; here are some sites to help you do the same thing.

The Birth of One Retail Therapy Dot Com
Once more I had to follow the calling of my heart. And so I designed another website along with its’ own blog. One Retail Therapy was born out of my desire to own a retail establishment. And I wanted to be able to share my life experiences with others concerning my own attempts to stretch a dollar as far as I could.
Sometimes, I would stretch that dollar so far it popped!

Not hopped.
So, after 54 years of living, learning, and stretching of the dollar; I came to the conclusion that online shopping was the best! Thus my idea of one stop shopping online became a reality.
One Retail Therapy Dot Com was born!
My next step began with the search for stores. I desired stores who truly wanted customers, and would work hard to get them and keep them. My second criteria was the stores had to offer awesome products with incredible discounts, and some kind of free shipping.
After building the site, I realized most of the stores on One Retail Therapy, were small business owners. And just like the rest of us, they are trying to make a living each and every day. Now some of the stores I chose because of their excitingly different merchandise, which can not be found in regular retail establishments or large chains! There are a few of them which are the more commonly known shops too.
The last hurdle was one more blog to write. I have decided that between now and the end of the holidays, One Retail Therapy’s blog will focus on making the holidays fun again. And as always…giving back!
Oh yes, I plan on doing our holiday shopping at One Retail Therapy. And then spending the rest of my time enjoying the holidays, our family, and having a little more jingle in my own pocket!

Holiday Safety for Kids and Animals
Wow! We are into Halloween week already and then the holiday push will begin.
Are you ready?
Can you feel the stress start crawling up the back of your neck?
One way to reduce holiday stress, is to make sure your home environment is safe for family and pets. Having to make a call to Poison Control, visit the Emergency Room, or even an Emergency Vet; can turn your holidays into a nightmare. The way to prevent disaster is to be informed and prepared.
“Intelligent people are always ready to learn. Their ears are open for knowledge.” Proverbs 18:15 New Living Translation.
Did you know that certain plants and trees which decorate our homes this time of year are toxic, even deadly, to humans and animals. And their pretty bright colors with sweet smells, are so enticing to children and pets.
Did you know that these same trees and plants have been treated with fertilizers and pesticides? Fertilizer and pesticides are extremely toxic! It is as simple as putting water in the base of the tree or plant to help release these chemicals.
And, I have heard so many people say that their family experiences more allergy and sinus issues around the holidays every year. That is logical because, we turn our homes into greenhouses when we bring the trees and plants indoors. Then the saps and chemicals begin to release into our household air systems, thus aggravating our own airways.
Now your whole family has a cold/sinus issues and they become miserable. So, you become miserable. Is it really worth all of the trouble for four weeks?
Myself, I love live trees…outside. Over the years we have learned an artificial tree works just as well. You do have to keep them dusted and clean, and make sure they meet the regulatory standards. Because warmed toxic plastic is just as bad. Also, I think churches should consider their decorating habits during the holidays. Some of us cannot attend church services during the holidays because of the plants and trees in the sanctuary. I, myself, am allergic to the poinsettia and find myself gasping for air if in a room of them.
Make the holidays about the memories and not the stuff you adorn your home. Simplify, enjoy each other, and celebrate Jesus’ birthday!

Take Shelter
The east coast of America is bracing for Hurricane Matthew and while most are evacuating the area, there are those who will stay. If you have children and stay, to me, you are a criminal. You are purposely putting your children in harms way!
Now, I know some people will have to go to local shelters and that is fine. But those who are staying to ride out the storm thinking they are big, bad, and brave are stupid! You can not fight rising, rushing water. Water so strong that a Mack truck can be swept away by it, like a feather blowing in a breeze. Trees breaking in half and falling on power lines, and your home create perilous circumstances.
All of these situations are very scary to children. And you, as their protector, must make good decisions concerning their welfare. You, must be the calming force in a frightening situation.
King David when he had enemies chasing him, not even a hurricane, stated in Psalm 55:8…
“I would hurry to my place of shelter, far from the tempest and storm.”
Before that verse, David express he would do this if he were a dove. He would fly to safety. David was not a fool in troubled times.
Please heed my words, as someone who has been through these weather hazards, go to a shelter or evacuate. Prepare your children for what is to come and reassure them that they will be ok. Take supplies, favorite blankets, stuffed animals, or dolls; anything that will represent comfort to them.
And please don’t forget your pets. They are family too and deserve to go wherever you go. You can find pet friendly shelters and hotels.
Being big, bad, and brave means nothing when you or your family is being lowered into a grave!
So, be a real hero and take care of your children and pets.
God Bless You!
God Bless America!
