Monarchs & American Royalty

Does it not seem weird to you that in the 21st Century, the world still has monarchies? And the fact that they have amassed such a gross amount of wealth just because of who they are creates disgust within me for them. Yet America has its own ultra-wealthy families and stars who the public view as some created American royalty. I am disappointed that both are given such reverence for being who they are and what they do rather than who they help and how much better their actions make the world. This brings me to the question, does someone require one hundred million dollars to live out their lives in such a luxurious lifestyle?

I understand there is a signed paper in which some of these affluent individuals pledge to give away their money.  From what I have read, administering their funds does appear more trickle than a waterfall event. But, the delegation of their funds is their choice. My husband delegates our funds because I have a slight problem of giving it all away, and then we can’t pay our bills! But we are very ordinary people with less than typical funds, and the amount we give away you can count in twenty, ten, and five-dollar bills.  Now before I get emails concerning my husband’s control over our finances, we are a team who discusses what goes out when, where, and how. If given a chance, I will see others’ needs before our own. Someone has to keep the roof over our heads!

Talking about wealthy people brings me to one of my favorite parables from Jesus.

Luke 12:13-21

The Parable of the Rich Fool

13 Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.”

14 Jesus replied, “Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?” 15 Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”

16 And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. 17 He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’

18 “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain.

19 And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’

20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’

21 “This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.”

Just goes to show that there is no UHaul behind the hearse in this life! So love as many people as you can and give graciously to one another.

God Bless You!
